These wants and needs are what make you, you. It's how you love and want to be loved in return. At the end of the day, these qualities being fulfilled are what is going to separate a successful or unsuccessful relationship. So get to know yourself! Get to know your partner, your friends, and family by determining which are the most prominent and important to you and your loved ones.
Overview of each language -
- Physical touch: Hugging, cuddling, hand holding, anything of that nature makes you feel the most loved. This is how you want to be comforted and celebrated. And on the opposite hand of that, this is how you show your love to others.
- Affirmations: You thrive off of positive reinforcement! These positive words are comforting to you, they're your blanket of reassurance and in return makes you feel valued, seen and appreciated.
- Acts of service: A loved one doing a task you have been putting off makes you feel cared for. The act of them going out of their way to do something you could have done yourself shows their initiative and love for you.
- Quality time: Spending 1 on 1 time with your person. Whether this be going out on dates, playing games together, cooking as a team, or even doing two completely different things within the same room! Quality time makes you feel closer to that person, and offers a sense of fulfillment.
- Gifts: Being treated with a gift makes you feel the most loved and appreciated in your relationships. Especially when its unexpected! It lets you know they were thinking about you while out on their own ventures, bringing you back something they know you'd like or have spoken about wanting.
With any and all of these, the roles can be reversed. Doing these things in your relationships might make you feel the most fulfilled, rather than receiving.
